I just started reading this amazing workbook on discovering and removing your inner white privilege and dismantling white supremacy.
You can find it free at: https://www.meandwhitesupremacybook.com/book/
"The good news is that white supremacy’s desire to save itself will never overcome humanity’s need to save the species. Because you’re doing this work, not for the survival of self, but for the benefit of those who will come after you, they will look back and say that you were, indeed, a good ancestor."

#Facebook targeted legislators around the world [lobbying against data #privacy laws], promising or threatening to withhold investment
“Serious question: how should we as informed individuals act towards our friends/family that work at #Facebook? Is it like working at Blackwater or Haliburton, i.e. worthy of scorn or st least distance ? Or do we accept them and not talk about it and just have a nice time, even though they are actively undermining democracy as we speak?”
Just watched Free Solo. Fucking unbelievable.
"...it must be said that the process of washing the disparate tribes white, was not achieved through wine tasting and ice cream socials, but rather through the pillaging of life, liberty, labor, and land; through the flaying of backs; the chaining of limbs; the strangling of dissidents; the destruction of families; the rape of mothers; the sale of children; and various other acts meant, first and foremost, to you and me the right to secure and govern our own bodies.”

Heh. Something I just realized about AOC:
I'm still further left than her.
I don't care what Congressional rules exist. I'd be calling Republicans regressive bigots every damn day, refusing to work with them and explicitly telling them that to do so would mean sacrificing people's lives, which is NOT acceptable.

i love being conditioned by capitalism so effectively for so long that any time i'm not doing something deemed by society to be """"P R O D U C T I V E"""""

Washington teachers fought high stakes testing. Last Friday, they won. High stakes testing and “No Child Left Behind” privatization ravaged public education under Bush, Obama, and Trump. These tests have gone from marginal assessment to dominating the curriculum (and often the bonus structure) during the year. These tests are neither reliable nor valid for assessing... Read more »
That feeling of utter relief when you have insurance again... COBRA is like hundreds of dollars a month and that's not remotely affordable for ppl trying to cover between jobs
When I was broke and applying for medicaid I got caught with a hospital bill on top of penalties for the coverage gap that occurred cause medicaid wouldn't fucking respond for months.
Until every single human being who resides here is covered, we gotta fight like hell.
Nobody should be without healthcare. Ever.

If you’re a liberal, and you canvas or campaign or vote or petition or write your representative and it doesn’t get the laws you want passed passed, you’ve failed, and you may as well have not done those things. But if you’re an anarchist and you host a food share or start a coop or go to a book fair with your comrades, and those things don’t singlehandedly topple capitalism and the state - well, you’ve fed people, given workers control over their work, built up relationships with your community, and had a good time
It’s a process, it’s not an all-at-once breaking but a gradual loosening of the chains, your reach widening and your wrists hurting less and less until one day maybe you can slip your hands out. Or maybe you won’t, but you’ve still gotten freer along the way. Those little victories are important and should be celebrated and cherished. That’s how you stay hopeful and happy as a leftist
